Last
Sunday the 28th World Book & Copyright Day took place, and
I celebrated it presenting my graphic novel CoBrA: Op. Goa,
written by Marco Calhorda, at the invitation of Rui Gaspar, director
of Alpiarça Public Library, which also comemorates its 34th anniversary.
It
was a great afternoon, which a good amount of audience, and the
presentation was attended by publisher Ricardo Pereira (Ala dos Livros) and surviving soldier Sabino Saturnino, born in
Alpiarça, who in 1961 was a witness of all the events portraid in
the book, not only interacting with various key figures of portuguese
history that were paramount in this story, but also being a war
priosioner of the Indian Union, along with 3500 other military
officers, and eventually liberated due to the efforts narrated in the
graphic novel. It was delightful to ear his accounts, aside from
discussing the merits of the book and its critical reception.
Apart
from the opportunity to gather with readers and sign a few books, the
event marked the 1st anniversary of CoBrA’s release, back in
April 25th, 2022.

último domingo deu-se o 28º Dia Mundial do Livro e dos Direitos
Autorais, e comemorei apresentando o álbum de BD CoBrA:
Operação Goa, escrito por Marco Calhorda, a
convite de Rui Gaspar, diretor da Biblioteca Municipal
de Alpiarça, que também comemora o seu 34º aniversário.
Foi
uma grande tarde, que contou com público diverso, e a apresentação
teve a presença do editor Ricardo Pereira (Ala dos Livros) e
do soldado sobrevivente Sabino Saturnino, natural de Alpiarça,
que em 1961 foi testemunha dos acontecimentos históricos retratados
no livro, não só interagindo com várias figuras-chave da história
portuguesa que foram importantes na situação, mas também sendo um
prisioneiro de guerra da União Indiana, juntamente com outros 3500
oficiais militares, e eventualmente libertado devido aos esforços
narrados na banda desenhada. Foi um prazer ouvir seus relatos, além
de fazer um rescaldo aos méritos do livro e sua recepção crítica.
Para além da oportunidade de reunir com leitores e de autografar livros, o evento marcou o 1º aniversário de lançamento de CoBrA, em 25 de Abril de 2022.
