The
graphic novel CoBrA: Operation Goa has gathered
several great reviews! I cannot complain about the feedback we have
received in the Portuguese comics sector so far, which can also be
said about the sales the book has achieved.
After
the reviews I shared earlier, I now highlight these new ones, from
the blog Notas Bedéfilas, by critic Nuno Neves, along with these
brief reviews from BandasDesenhadas website, and also from blogs BD2u

“I
have been following Daniel Maia's work as an artist for some time,
and, apart from a few publications and magazines, I was missing a
graphic novel from him, those with many pages, enriched with his
vigorous and very expressive style, which give a strong dynamic to
the drawing. This lack is now finally filled with the edition and
release of this CoBrA: Operation Goa, with the
stamp of ALA DOS LIVROS, the first book of a trilogy.
It
is a work of fiction inspired by the real events of the invasion of
Goa by India and the consequent loss of that Portuguese colony, in a
script written by Marco Calhorda, who makes his debut here as a comic
book author. The author's option was to focus the story on the
political game and backstage operations of the Portuguese, with a
view to the liberation of our troops held in Goa. A narrative that
focuses mainly on the "boring" part of espionage
operations, when I personally preferred that Daniel's artwork had
been more used in military action scenes. Still a very interesting
work."

greatest asset is Daniel Maia's excellent artwork. As for the script,
it is Marco Calhorda's first experience in comics and there is a lot
of room for improvement, being, in any case, worthy of appreciation
for the work already done in this first volume of an announced
trilogy. The joint work of the authors certainly has the potential to
attract readers. Hopefully, in the next volumes, the writer will
review the narrative structure, in order to either increase the
number of pages, or focus only on the most important actions and give
more space to the fictional development of the characters.”

Não posso me queixar do feedback que temos recebido no sector de
banda desenhada portuguesa, bem como das vendas que a edição tem
atingido.
Depois

algum tempo que tenho acompanhado o trabalho do Daniel
Maia enquanto
desenhador, e tirando algumas publicações e revistas, faltava-me um
álbum, daqueles com muitas páginas, enriquecidas com o seu traço
vigoroso e bastante expressivo, que dão uma forte dinâmica ao
desenho. Esta falta fica agora finalmente colmatada com a edição e
lançamento deste CoBrA: Operação Goa, com a chancela da ALA DOS LIVROS, o primeiro álbum de uma trilogia.
Trata-se
de uma obra de ficção inspirada nos acontecimentos reais da invasão
de Goa por parte da Índia e consequente perda daquela colónia
portuguesa, num argumento assinado por Marco Calhorda, que faz aqui a

história no jogo político e operações de bastidores dos
portugueses com vista à libertação das nossas tropas detidas em

militar. Ainda assim um trabalho muito interessante de construção.
