The
anthology inVISÍVEIS/inVISIBLES has been making
the rounds of the industry, with new presentations after the
AmadoraBD comics festival, and has also been featured on TV programs.
The edition is now beginning to be reviewed by comic book channels,
so here are some excerpts from the reviews received.

Filipe, on CentralComics:
“To
celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of CERCIOEIRAS (Cooperative for
the Education and Rehabilitation of Citizens with Disabilities), the
anthology comics inVISIBLES was launched, where the
protagonists are not superheroes, but like them, they have unique
characteristics and every day they have to face dangers and great
evils (prejudice and discrimination).
In
this anthology, written and coordinated by Hugo Pinto, who is
surrounded by some of our best national illustrators, such as Daniel
Maia, Susana Resende, Joana Afonso, Luís Louro, Osvaldo Medina,
Paulo J. Mendes, Ricardo Santos and Jorge Coelho (cover), we are
presented with 6 stories where we are confronted with a small part of
what the daily life of someone with a disability is like. Themes such
as equity vs. equality, prejudice, condescension and the lack of
inclusion and accessibility are presented to us with the aim of
making visible what most of the time passes us by. At the end of each
story it was necessary To pause for a moment and reflect on the
reality that has been presented to me. The constant calls for
attention and "punches in the gut" make these stories
necessary, as well as their sharing between children and adults.

Regarding
the art, we are treated to some of the best comic book artists in
Portugal, who are quite faithful to their style, and the care put
into each panel is noticeable.”

“A
project by CerciOeiras, coordinated by Hugo Pinto, featuring
high-caliber Portuguese comic book artists such as Daniel Maia, Joana
Afonso, Luis Louro, Paulo J. Mendes, among others. In this book, we
are treated to six short stories, between four and five pages long,
which focus on people who suffer from a disability. Most of the
stories have scripts by Hugo Pinto, marking his debut as a comic book
author, and I particularly enjoyed the stories.

accompany him, we have authors of very high quality, who make these
scripts shine with their beautiful art.

Obviously, we
have stories here that come up short by being too brief. However,
they are effective, and we understand the message, and at the same
time, they manage to touch and sensitize us, without a doubt, about
disability issues.”

“I
am seriously impressed with this independent release. A weighty
collaboration, bringing together some of the best national
illustrators. Excellent work by Hugo Pinto who, as far as I know,
signs his first experience as a comic book artist here — at least
it's the only one I'm aware of.
I
loved the stories in general, especially the one that addresses the
difference between equality and equity, a fundamental theme that many
still don't understand. The last story seemed to have a more
hate-centered tone, which I found a shame in an book that, as a
whole, is driven by love and the purpose of inspiring. This more
bitter note clashes a bit with the rest of the work.
Still,
it is a very important work, executed with great quality. It is clear
proof that comics are a powerful vehicle for educating, transmitting
knowledge and provoking reflection. We need more initiatives like
this. Many congratulations to Hugo Pinto and everyone involved.”
A
antologia inVISÍVEIS tem feito as rondas do sector,
com novas apresentações após o festival AmadoraBD, tendo também
já sido destacado em programas de TV. A edição começa agora a ser
analisada pelos canais de banda desenhada, pelo que deixo aqui alguns
excertos das críticas recebidas.

tornam estas histórias necessárias, bem como a sua partilha junto
das crianças e adultos.

respeito à arte, somos
brindados com alguns dos melhores artistas de banda desenhada em
Portugal, sendo
bastante fiéis ao seu traço e nota-se o carinho colocado em cada
vinheta.”

“Projecto
da CerciOeiras, coordenado por Hugo Pinto, e que conta com artistas
de alto calibre da banda desenhada portuguesa, como Daniel Maia,
Joana Afonso, Luis Louro, Paulo J. Mendes, entre outros. Neste livro
somos brindados com seis histórias curtas, [entre] as quatro e cinco
páginas, que vão debruçar-se sobre [pessoas] que sofrem de uma
deficiência. A maior parte das histórias conta com argumento de
Hugo Pinto, [tratando-se] da sua estreia como autor de BD, e eu
gostei particularmente das histórias.

o acompanhar temos autores de altíssima qualidade, que fazem brilhar

temos aqui histórias que pecam por serem curtas demais. No entanto,
elas são efectivas e nós percebemos a mensagem, e ao mesmo tempo
conseguem nos tocar e sensibilizar, sem dúvida, sobre as questões
da deficiência.”

seriamente impressionado com este lançamento independente. Uma
colaboração de peso, reunindo alguns dos melhores ilustradores
nacionais. Um excelente trabalho por parte do Hugo Pinto que, tanto
quanto sei, assina aqui a sua primeira experiência como argumentista
de banda desenhada — pelo menos é a única de que tenho
conhecimento.
Adorei
as histórias no geral, especialmente a que aborda a diferença entre
igualdade e equidade, um tema fundamental que muitos ainda não
compreendem. A última história pareceu-me ter um tom mais centrado
no ódio, o que achei pena num álbum que, no seu conjunto, é movido
pelo amor e pelo propósito de inspirar. Essa nota mais amarga destoa
um pouco do resto da obra.
Ainda
assim, trata-se de uma obra muito importante, executada com grande
qualidade. É uma prova clara de que a banda desenhada é um veículo
poderoso para educar, transmitir conhecimento e provocar reflexão.
Precisamos de mais iniciativas como esta. Muitos parabéns ao Hugo
Pinto e a todos os envolvidos.”
