Amadora BD comics festival returns between October 22th and November 6th
in an edition aimed at the digital community, with streaming on
social networks, which include conversations and presentations, as
well as exhibitions tours. The highlights of the event are the
screening of the documentary Entre Traços: 30 Anos de Banda
Desenhada/Between the
Lines: 30 Years of Comics, that reflects on the role the festival
had in Portuguese comics, and exhibits “José Ruy: From Tagus
to the End of the World” and “30+1: Comics don´t Quarantine.”
In
this atypical year, this collective exhibition replaces the
festival's central exhibit and invites 30 authors to showcase works
made during the quarantine or that have the pandemic as a theme, thus
reflecting on the effects that the current situation has on the
comics community. For my part, I participate with 2 pages, one made
for the project Turn the Page, with script by Marco
Fraga Silva, and another produced for the GN Cobra,
with script by Marco Calhorda – which is shown to portuguese
public for the first time, after integrating the exhibition
“Portuguese Comics are Super!” at 10th Brussels Comics Strip Festival.
Neste ano atípico, esta mostra colectiva substitui a exposição central do festival, que convida 30 autores portugueses para apresentarem obras realizadas durante a quarentena ou que têm a pandemia como tema, assim reflectindo nos efeitos que a actual conjuntura tem na comunidade de BD. Pela minha parte, participo com 2 pranchas, uma realizada para o projecto Virar a Página, com argumento de Marco Fraga Silva, e outra produzida para o álbum Cobra, escrito por Marco Calhorda – que assim tem uma antevisão junto do público português, após ter integrado a exposição “A BD Portuguesa é Super!” no 10º Brussels Comics Strip Festival.
