It's
mind-boggling to think that it's been thirty years since the release
of Warner Bros' 1989 adaptation of Batman, the first movie to bring
the Dark Knight to the big screen, directed by then-newcomer Tim
Burton, with an iconic instrumental score by Danny Elfman and a
kick-ass soundtrack by Prince, and featuring Michael Keaton
(Batman/Bruce Wayne), Jack Nicholson (Joker) and Kim Basinger (Vicky
Vale).
Being around ten years old, I was at the right age to get caught up the all the “Batmania” craze – and, believe me, it was a gigantic cultural phenomenon back then! – and, although I don't exactly recall seeing the film at the theater, I remember the excitement of the trailer repeatedly showing on the tv. Aside from getting the (costly) amazing graphic novel adaptation by Dennis O'Neal and Jerry Ordway, and completing (for the 1st time ever) the stickers' album, I also drew the Bat constantly; and I still have a few of those older drawings, because it was around when I began using books instead of loose blank sheets...
É atordoante pensar que já se passaram trinta anos desde a estreia da adaptação cinematográfica de Batman em 1989, pela Warner Bros, o primeiro filme a levar o Cavaleiro das Trevas à grande tela, realizado pelo então-novato Tim Burton, com uma icónica banda sonora instrumental de Danny Elfman e excelente música do Prince, figurando Michael Keaton (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Jack Nicholson (Joker) e Kim Basinger (Vicky Vale).
Então com dez anos, estava na idade certa para ser apanhado pela loucura da “Batmania” – e, acreditem, o impacto cultural na altura foi um fenómeno gigantesco! – e, embora não me recorde exactamente de ver o filme no cinema, lembro-me bem da excitação do trailer passar repetidamente na tv. Fora ter comprado a (custosa) formidável adaptação para novela gráfica por Dennis O'Neal e Jerry Ordway, e ter completado (pela primeira vez) a caderneta de cromos, também desenhei o Morcego constantemente. Ainda tenho alguns desses desenhos antigos porque foi pela altura em que comecei a usar cadernos em vez de rabiscar em folhas soltas...
