No
início do ano fui convidado a integrar os ilustradores da próxima
antologia de literatura fantástica pela editora Saída de
Emergência, Os Contos mais Épicos de Conan, por Robert E. Howard, a
ser lançada no último trimestre de 2020.
Como
fã de REH desde jovem e da sua célebre criação Conan o Cimério,
foi um prazer desenhar o bárbaro e a companheira Valéria numa
ilustração do famoso conto “Pregos Vermelhos” (1935), que
dividi com a autora Rita Alfaiate. Publicado postumamente em três
partes na revista Weird Tales (Julho a Outubro de 1936), escolhi
ilustrar esta novela por ser tida como sendo o último grande conto
de fantasia escrito pelo autor e também a última narrativa
completada com Conan. Foi também a primeira história que li da
personagem, através da adaptação para banda desenhada por Barry
Windsor-Smith.

At
the beginning of the year I was invited to join the illustrators of
the next fantastic literature anthology book by publisher Saída de
Emergência, Os Contos mais Épicos de Conan/The Most Epic Tales of
Conan, by Robert E. Howard, to be released in 2020's last quarter.
As
a fan of REH from a young age and of his famous creation Conan the
Cimmerian, it was a pleasure to draw the barbarian and his companion
Valeria in an illustration of the famous tale “Red Nails” (1935),
which I shared with author Rita Alfaiate. Published posthumously in
three parts in the magazine Weird Tales (July to October 1936), I
chose to illustrate this novella because it is considered to be the
last great fantasy story written by the author and also the last
narrative completed with Conan. It was also the first story I read
with the character, through Barry Windsor-Smith's comic book
adaptation.
