XIII FIBDB/Beja International Comics Festival – Daniel Maia & Susana Resende

Concluindo as visitas às mostras incluídas no 13FIBDB, faço destaque especial à minha exposição com Susana Resende, que destaca dois projectos desenvolvidos com base nas personagens criadas por José de Matos-Cruz, e na sua escrita – O Infante Portugal & Aurora Boreal.
A minha parte da exposição figura as capas e pranchas da banda desenhada O Infante Portugal em Universos Reunidos, junto com desenhos feitos para a série Aurora Boreal, a qual constitui a maioria dos trabalhos na parte da mostra da Susana. Ali, a Susana optou por expor diversas impressões com tom digital, junto com os originais a grafite.

Concluding the visits to the exhibits shown in 13FIBDB, here's a special spotlight on my display with Susana Resende, which presents two projects developed based on characters created by José de Matos-Cruz, and his writing – The Infante Portugal & Aurora Boreal.

My part of the exhibit features the covers and artboards from the comic O Infante Portugal em Universos Reunidos, besides some drawings for the Aurora Boreal series, which constitutes the majority of works by Susana, on her part of the show. In it, Susana opted to display several prints with the finished digital tones, next to the penciled originals.

Agradeço, novamente, ao Paulo Monteiro, director do FIBDB e Bedeteca de Beja, e à Câmara Municipal de Beja, pelo convite para integrarmos o festival. Esta já é a 3a exposição alusiva ao 'Infante em que participo, e agradeço ao José de Matos-Cruz por ceder as suas personagens para o efeito, para além de ter escrito a nossa introdução ao público, in Splaft! #13.

I'd like to again thank Paulo Monteiro, director of FIBDB and Beja Comics Library, and Beja's City Hall, for the invitation to join the festival. This is already the 3rd exhibit related to 'Infante that I partake on, so I thank José de Matos-Cruz for granting us the use of his characters for this purpose, and also for writing our introduction to the audience, in Splaft! #13.

  

 

XIII FIBDB/Beja International Comics Festival – Photos II/Fotos II

Dando seguimento à tour do 13FIBDB, eis fotos das exposições a ter lugar nas galerias e noutros espaços no perímetro do centro histórico de Beja, no que é, enfim, um convite ao passeio pelas carismáticas e típicas ruelas e travessas do bairro junto ao largo dos Paços da Cidade. Figuram aqui os autores Flávio Luiz, Artur Correia, Paolo Mottura, Pedro Morais, Pedro Manaças, a colectiva de Vinhetas da Roménia, Daniel Maia & Susana Resende, e Pascual Ferry.

Following with the tour of the 13FIBDB, here are photos from exhibits taking place in galleries and other spots around Beja's historical center's perimeter, in what is, essentially, an invitation to roam the charismatic and typical streets and alleys near the City Hall square. Featured here are the artists Flávio Luiz, Artur Correia, Paolo Mottura, Pedro Morais, Pedro Manaças, a collective of Romenian Vignettes, Daniel Maia & Susana Resende, and Pascual Ferry.

XIII FIBDB/Beja International Comics Festival – Photos I / Fotos I

Volvida uma semana da abertura do XIII Festival Internacional BD de Beja, a decorrer no centro histórico da cidade, partilho fotos das mostras tidas no núcleo do evento, o Teatro Municipal Pax Julia, onde também decorreram as apresentações e conversas, no auditório do edifício; nomeadamente, focadas nos autores Juan Giménez, Ricardo Venâncio, Grazia la Padula, Sofia Neto – vencedora do Prémio Geraldes Lino deste ano –, Anne-Caroline Pandolfo & Terkel Risbjerg, Judith Vanistendale, Jorge Coelho, Rafael Coutinho, Pedro Cobiaco, e vários autores de Angola.

A week after the start of the XIII Beja International Comics Festival, taking place in the city's historical area, here are photos from the exhibits held at the event's center, the Pax Julia Municipal Theater, where the presentations and conversations also took place, at the buildings auditorium; namely, focused on comics artist Juan Giménez, Ricardo Venâncio, Grazia la Padula, Sofia Neto – winner of the year's Geraldes Lino Award –, Anne-Caroline Pandolfo & Terkel Risbjerg, Judith Vanistendale, Jorge Coelho, Rafael Coutinho, Pedro Cobiaco, and several artists from Angola.
